Thank you Southminster community! You made the 38th annual Celebration of Creativity the most successful Southminster art show to date! We had a record-breaking $86,768 in sales this year, up around $5,000 over sales for the 2015 show.
The participating artists receive most of the proceeds from those sales, of course. Of the monies kept by Southminster, much of it will go back out into the community as grants to support the arts in various forms and some will be retained to fund arts/aesthetic projects in the church.
In past years, community grants have funded art literacy programs in the schools, scholarships at PCC, Beaverton Arts Foundation awards to high school students in the arts, and support for the kids’ summer MAD (Music, Art, & Drama) Camp. In-house projects have included the new sanctuary carpet, updated rest rooms, new kitchen cutlery, and commissioned art for the church.
So thank you to all of you cookie bakers and canapé makers, all of you security guards, all of you Boutique attendants, all of you who set up the show equipment and facades, all of you who broke it down, all of you who checked in artists, all of you who checked artists out, and to everyone who helped make this a banner year. You all rock!
