Southminster is currently closed due to COVID-19. All overnight housing and Family Promise programming have been temporarily suspended. The information below references how Southminster supports Family Promise under normal conditions. Stay tuned for updates as the program adjusts to current restrictions.
At Southminster, we partner with Family Promise of Washington County to host families throughout the year. “The Mission of Family Promise is to ‘End Homelessness – One Family at a Time.’ We do this by strengthening the lives of the people we serve and building a strong community to support their ongoing success. Our program provides temporary shelter, case management (coaching) resources, advocacy, and referrals for homeless families with children that reside in our shelter program. We help to provide a community connection – a foundation for success – that goes with them when they leave our program.”
If you are looking for a way to get involved with the community, this is the perfect chance. We always need more volunteers! During Family Promise week, Southminster provides a meal and a safe place to sleep for families in need. Volunteers cook and serve dinner and stay overnight at the church.
Dinner Servers – 5:00 – 8:00pm. You will coordinate, cook, and serve a meal for our families.
Overnight – 8:00pm – 7:00am. You will stay overnight with the families and provide them with a welcoming atmosphere to make them feel at home. You must have a background check completed with the church to volunteer for overnight help.
