Youth Ministry Director/ Children’s & Youth Music Coordinator

Ministry is not a new focus for Jenn Winquist (she/her), the new Youth Ministry Director at Southmin. At age three, Jenn began singing with her two older sisters at a church across the street from Southmin. At age six, Jenn began volunteering in the church nursery, and at age 13, she began serving in church leadership.
Beaverton High School helped nurture Jenn’s choral, athletic, and leadership passions. She served there as ASB president, volleyball team captain, Choir President, and was a founding member of BHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
The sun lured Jenn to Southern California for college, where Jenn studied Sociology and Christian Ministries at Azusa Pacific University. She came back to Portland for graduate school at Lewis and Clark College, where she earned her Masters of Education in School Counseling. Jenn has served on short-term mission trips in Kenya, Ukraine, Mexico, St. Vincent Island, New York City, and San Francisco. With Southmin, she has helped lead Urban Plunge retreats and mission trips to Spokane, Alaska, Cuba, and South Africa.
Jenn is proud to be a part of Southmin, a place that is truly welcoming and affirming of the queer community. She has two kids, 7 and 9, and she brings 20 years of school counseling experience. Jenn is passionate about developing quality children and youth ministry and music programs, welcoming new people, and helping them plug into our church community.
Most recently, Jenn led “Southmin Goes to Pride 2025,” where 10 people from Southmin marched (and one unicycled!) in the parade, while 30 others observed the Beaverton Pride Parade together amongst the large crowds. She is excited about helping Southmin think of new ministry possibilities and how we can use our building to maximize our ministry impact in our community.
