Should we ever take sides? From the Hebrew prophet, Jeremiah:
He judged the cause of the poor and needy;
then it was well.
Is not this to know me?
says the Lord.
Elie Wiesel said,
“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and
humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence
encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
