Dear “Virtual” Southminster Members,

Welcome to Easter Morning,

I know that none of us planned to be apart on Easter this year, but here we are. And we are proving that the church is not a building, that community is discovered in each other. As you wake up this Easter, I encourage you to take a brief moment to go or look outside. Take a short walk. Read or listen to the Easter Sunrise meditation that I have for you today — as you listen to the “Morning Has Broken” hymn and watch the Flowering of Southminster member video, may you find peace and wholeness.

You are also encouraged to take 45 minutes this morning, with you and your family, to watch the PCUSA Easter Celebration and message of hope (at the bottom of this page). Leaders of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) have created this video to help us all come together in this time of social distancing.

From the Ludwig’s to all of you – Happy Easter!

“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.”
— Pope John Paul ll

Spirit of Life and of Love. Mystery of new life growing out of the earth.
Promise of new life growing in our lives. Help us remember, on this Easter morning, that we are loved…just as we are…but also as we may become.
Help us open your eyes to see all those around us as lovable too…just as they are.
Help us to become truth-tellers of the “Ta-Da” moments of our lives — to be the evidence of resurrection to everyone we meet. A-men.

Music Video:   “Morning Has Broken”

Christian Reading: Mark 16:1-8
When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large.

And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

Final Blessing and Benediction:

Let this day…this day of days…be the day when we accept the promise we have been given…
That resurrection can be real. That new life can become the truth of our lives.
That the Spirit of Life and of Love has come to renew us.
And work its “Ta-Da” magic in our hearts.  A-men
