Southminster Foundation Looking for Board Members

Did you know that if you are a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church you are automatically a member of the Southminster Foundation?  And eligible to serve on its board?

The Southminster Foundation supports the church’s mission with funding for community non-profit programs that serve the needy, and funding for Southminster Presbyterian Church’s building and membership programs.  The Foundation’s board currently manages around $650,000 of assets and since 1979 the Foundation has donated more than $400,000 to community organizations and more than $400,000 to the church itself.

The Foundation is in the process of filling two open seats on the board for 2015 (terms start in January of the year and run for three years).    The Board manages the Foundation overall, including finding the right balance between investing our assets, determining how much we can donate each year, finding qualified organizations to donate to and allocating our funds to the best ones, handling legal aspects, and promoting the foundation to prospective charities and within Southminster Presbyterian Church itself.

The foundation also has several committees and you don’t have to be on the board to get involved with one:

  • Investment Committee
  • Legal Committee
  • Promotions Committee
  • Grant Committee
